Residence #2324

From the very first visit to the sloped site in Pyrgos, framed by olive trees and woodland, it was clear that the land already held a kind of quiet wisdom. Our job was to listen closely and build with care.Set within that contour, 2324 takes in its surroundings, both natural and cultural. It is framed by ancient trees and greeted by an olive tree like an old friend by the entrance.

The design unfolds in gentle volumes, arranged as a sequence of spaces that offer moments of openness and retreat. Some look inward toward a partially enclosed courtyard with a pool and shaded outdoor living areas. Others extend outward, drawing in the light, the breeze, and the quiet presence of the forest.

Lighting plays a key compositional role. By day, sunlight spills across the terraces and interior surfaces. By night, the structure glows from within.

We built with locally sourced, hand-hewn stone, an enduring material that’s part of Cyprus’s architectural DNA. Beyond its visual grounding, stone offers practical resilience: thermal mass that cools in summer and retains warmth in winter, and the kind of tactility that never feels manufactured. In a time of faster and flatter construction, this was a deliberate return to the cadence of the past.
