Tucked into the Old Town streets of Limassol, Oinodos is a commercial restoration project inspired by the traditional, underground Cypriot Cava.
While those spaces were once built out of necessity, the spacial qualities and nostalgia remain relevant, now offering a sense of ritual and care that modern shoppers instinctively respond to when selecting a fine wine.
We approached the interior with that legacy in mind, blending the depth and atmosphere of the old with the clarity and function of the new.
The custom shelving system is built from dark-stained oak and arranged in a diagonal grid. This format references historical wine storage methods—stacked bottles for stability and airflow—while also improving usability. The angles make it easier for customers to browse at their own pace, to see, reach, and connect with the bottles more naturally, while the structure itself creates a strong visual identity for the space.
Every detail is doing quiet work. Charcoal grout grounds the palette. Track lights wash the vertical surfaces to stretch the perceived height of the space. A soft ambient glow helps control the mood, while a pendant fixture over the central staging table brings focus to the experience.
