Marios Tokas Theater

The Marios Tokas Theater project is a renovation of the existing theater within the Lanitio School complex in Limassol. The main aim of this project was to retain the original structure and layout as much as possible, while respecting the deep cultural and historical ties that exist within the fabric of the building.

New additions are grouped into two categories. The first includes elements that have been restored through selective preservation and allow the building to retain its cultural lineage. The second consists of new architectural layers that deliberately avoid imitating the past. Instead, these new elements act as a contemporary superimposition and focus mainly on geometry, acoustics, lighting, and spatial flow, in order to improve the overall experience for visitors during performances.

The result is a hybrid space that preserves its duality of character and function.

The space functions as both a cultural and entertainment venue while remaining, at its core, an educational environment shaped by its deep history.
