3322, a timeworn archontiko in Limassol’s Old Town, gave us both a challenge and an invitation. To preserve its structure, honour its history, and adapt it thoughtfully for the people who will call it home next.
There is a soul to every archontiko. Crafted with the stone drawn from the very land it sits on, it held stories of lineage and standing, of families who once welcomed guests through arched loggias and shuttered stone openings, proud of their home’s dignity and detail.
We treated that legacy care, humility, and design that lets the old breathe again preserving the original stone façade, patching and repairing where needed. The arches remain. The timber shutters swing open just as they once did. The courtyard stil welcomes all residents to its heart.
The residence now unfolds in two distinct yet interconnected parts: the restored archontiko, carrying its heritage with grace, and a newly introduced volume that complements it. We added discreet soft landscape insertions, minimal glazing, and hidden ambient lighting that bridge the past with the present, while the new structure brings clarity, flow, and the comforts of contemporary living.
Together, the two pieces form a dialogue, one of memory and continuity, of history and modernity.
Now, 3322 holds all the emotional anchors of the past while functioning as a modern, livable space built for today.
