Da Vinci Bar, hidden in the cobbled streets of Limassol’s Old Town, is one of the city’s oldest listed structures. Left abandoned, the building had faded into the background of the historic center…
Our task was to revive it, gently, respectfully, and with the kind of care that heritage architecture demands. As a window into our past, the building holds deep cultural value, and we approached it with that trust in mind, not just as architects, but as members of the same community. The restoration began with the conservation of the original façade and timber roof, both preserved and repaired using traditional techniques. Arched openings, handcrafted stonework, and timber details were restored meticulously, not just to meet regulations, but to bring back the character that had been lost to time.
Where new interventions were needed, we chose a light touch: minimalist glass doors and contemporary metal accents. Inside, the layout was reimagined to support the rhythm of a modern bar, while still celebrating the building’s age and material honesty.Original wooden flooring and wall surfaces were retained and exposed wherever possible, layered with velvet seating, curated lighting, and lush planting to create an atmosphere the client envisioned.
Da Vinci Bar now welcomes the city back through its doors. One night, one toast, and one beautiful memory at a time.
